Now we’re going to try a set of Darco Acoustic Strings: the Darco 92/8 Phosphor Bronze Light Gauge, starting with the .012.
Darco strings are made by Martin. Basically, they are a budget string.
Here’s what Darco / Martin has to say about these strings:
Darco acoustic strings are made with value in mind. Fully aware that a need for value should not compromise tone or inhibit your musical creativity, Darco acoustics are engineered and produced within strict tolerances.
Here’s what we have to say about these strings:
These strings aren’t quite half the price of many other strings we’ve reviewed. However, they definitely aren’t half as good as those other strings. As a matter of fact, these strings have a very good tone to them.
Some sets we tried didn’t last quite as long as others. But it wasn’t a big difference.
We’ve heard that D’addario and Martin actually make these together – couldn’t verify this. However, the materials used in these strings are apparently the same, or very similar to, the regular Martin brand materials.
If you change your strings a lot, if you’re looking for a good set of strings for a great price, these are your strings.
For about 3 bucks, you can’t go wrong.
